PORTUGAL IN WORLD WAR I : The Tom Poynton Collection
PORTUGAL IN WORLD WAR I
Tom Poynton, one of our long-time members, died last year and we have recently learnt that part of his collection, entitled ‘Portugal in WWI’, will be coming up for auction next week on the 15th (i.e. 15 March, 2017) at Cavendish Auctions in the UK.
The auctioneers have split it into about 50 lots all numbered in the 600 s. Both Portugal and the Colonies are well-represented.
I was fortunate enough to purchase some lots but do we know what happened to unsold lots from this auction?
Tom’s remaining collection has been divided amongst auctions in Portugal and will be coming up during 2018 at Dias in Lisbon and Ateneu in Porto.
